Burbank, May 30, 2024 – RMS, a leading provider of innovative retail solutions for the grocery industry, is proud to announce that it has been awarded a grant to launch a donation-based CRV beverage container collection program, CRV Connect, in partnership with Dealers, Food Finders, Inc., and other community businesses. The grant was awarded on April 18, 2024, by CalRecycle, representing a significant opportunity for RMS to create a workforce development project to revolutionize CRV redemption programs in the retail and grocery sector.
The primary objective of this workforce development project is to create meaningful impacts in the communities served by providing Food Finders, Inc., a regional food rescue organization, with monetary donations generated from the value of the donated CRV commodities. This project will also prepare the grocery and retail industry for the upcoming dealer cooperative legislation by providing a solution that alleviates the operational and financial burden of existing CRV redemption programs, including in-store take-back initiatives.
"We're thrilled to have the support from CalRecycle and a commitment from select CGA Member grocers to implement the Workforce Development Project in LA County," said Heather Dougherty, VP of RMS Sustainability.
The Workforce project will allow RMS to create jobs, enhance consumerawareness about CRV redemption technologies, and pave the way for a moreefficient and sustainable approach to CRV redemption and community support. The CRV Connect initiative or platform will benefit retailers and contribute to amore environmentally responsible future. This new, two-year award will start July1, 2024.
