RMS announces Brian Phillips as the new Executive Director for the Circular CRV Association

RMS, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Phillips as the new Executive Director of the Circular CRV Association. Brian, a seasoned professional with over three decades of experience in the grocery and retail management industry, will lead the Association's initiatives to enhance recycling and sustainability efforts across California.


Brian Phillips began his distinguished career in 1992 as a Courtesy Clerk at Ralphs Grocery Company. His dedication and expertise saw him rise through the ranks, gaining extensive experience in various retail departments while pursuing higher education. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from California State University – Long Beach, followed by a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA). Brian also completed the Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC) Retail Management Certificate Program, further solidifying his knowledge and skills in retail management.


In his most recent role as the Labor, Expense, and Sustainability Manager at Ralphs, Brian has been instrumental in driving sustainability initiatives and managing operational budgets. His efforts included developing and managing the Division’s substantial labor budget, managing sustainability projects, and implementing cost-saving measures across over 180 retail locations. As executive director, Brian will work closely with California Grocers Association (CGA) Members on developing a cost-effective Dealer Cooperative, now known as the Circular CRV Association, ahead of CalRecycle’s 2025 deadline for in-store redemption. 


Brian resides in Orange County with his partner, Raheeb. He is an avid traveler and enjoys exploring, off-roading, and camping in the California desert. His passion for the environment and commitment to sustainability extends beyond his professional life, making him a perfect fit for the Circular CRV Association.


The Circular CRV Association is dedicated to advancing recycling efforts and environmental sustainability in California. Under Brian's leadership, the Association aims to enhance its programs and initiatives, ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for all.
